This Workshop is the first of its
kind. You will have an amazing chance to increase
your experience and improve your ability as
a dancer. Working for the day with The
Hossam Ramzy Live Orchestra many
of who have been very instrumental in the
creating of the music for the “Stars
of Egypt” like Taheyya Karioka
& Samya Gamal.

Classical
 1.
Understanding what forms a full
orchestra and what is the difference
between an Orchestra, a Takht
or a Baladi Ensemble?
2. Learn how to differentiate
between and dance to each individual
solo instrument playing live within
an Egyptian Dance Orchestra.
3. Learn about the correct layers
of Egyptian Dance Compositions
and how to interpret the orchestra’s
Questions & Answers according
to the instrumentation in a melodic
phrase.
4. You will learn how to improvise
with a solo instrument, LIVE with
some of Egypt’s most talented
musicians.
5. You will learn how to portray
the different sounds from the
whole orchestra.
6. You will improve your ability
to dance with a live Rhythm Section.
7. You will also learn how to
choose when to dance either to
the rhythm or to the melody or
to the orchestration in a musical
composition.
8. You will also learn a very
powerful choreography with the
Hossam Ramzy Live Orchestra, designed
and choreographed especially for
this workshop by Serena Ramzy.

Baladi
This is the one workshop
you have all been waiting for.
A special day filled with the true art
of being one with the music. Improvised
Baladi is a genre of music that not
like a repeated songs that you know
or would hear again, but after this
workshop, you will recognise this style
of composition when you hear it again.
In this workshop, Hossam & Serena
together with the Hossam
Ramzy Ensemble will share
a day of BALADI Music,
Rhythm and Dancing with you. You will
learn how the Baladi developed along
the past couple of hundred years and
you will also learn how to improvise
instantaneously to the music performed
by some of the best Egyptian musicians
living today.
Dancing a Baladi will become part of
daily life.
 1.
Learn the separate parts of a Baladi
Progression and how to dance to such
improvisations with a live ensemble.
2. Learn about the language between
dancer and musicians. And who follows
whom, in an improvised situation?
3. Have the answer to the Question:
How can I become one with a piece of
music that I never heard before?
4. Learn how to interpret the different
styles of Taqsim from the various instruments
in a Baladi Ensemble.
5. Learn about the role of the rhythmic
and the percussive interpretations within
the Baladi Music?
6. Learn about the emotional interpretation
of a Baladi piece of music.
7. Find out what is the role of a Drum
Solo in the Baladi Progression?
8. You will experience the magic of
creating the movement at the same moment
the soloing musician is creating the
sound. This has to be felt
to be believed.
