Author: James Spencer from P'cola, Fl United States I'm a percussionist, but don't worry, that doesn't mean I biased towards this kind of stuff. I actually don't care for most modern percussion solos as they tend to be chaotic and thus boring. For most people, percussion solos are something to mildly enjoy in small doses mainly due to the overbearing tone of many percussion instruments. The tabla is actually very dynamic (which makes it very expressive) and imo has one of the lesser "in your face" tones.
That being said, this really is a great CD. Hossam really knows his stuff and it shows. But it's not all showboating. This is very technical, but actually extremely catchy at the same time which is a rarity. You'd have to be near dead to not physically respond to this music. I've not seen a person yet that didn't start tapping their feet or tapping their fingers... and these are people that get annoyed at my habit of doing that. Very infectuous.
The only downside to this CD is I think my steering wheel might fall off from my beating it so hard while driving or sitting at a light. Well, that and I probably look crazy beating the wheel and bobbing my head around. Be forewarned ;)

Author: shimmygirl from Sumner, WA United States The entire CD is an inspiration to me as a bellydancer. I can't help but want to dance when I hear the music and it gets the creative juices flowing for making up choreography! All tracks are fun, funky percussion - perfect for hip shaking and shimmying. A must for any serious bellydancer's music collection!!!

Author: A music fan from Cheltenham, United Kingdom For students of drumming and percussion playing this is an essential guide to how it should be done, although it is also excellent accompaniment to not just belly dancing but also salsa and samba. For anyone who thinks that playing percussion is about 4/4 beats and hitting things, this should either inspire you or make you quit.
Despite no other instruments, this CD never gets boring due to the sheer dexterity and virtuosity in the playing. In fact turn up loud, get your lady to shake her hips and its downright exciting stuff. As a result of this CD I've pretty much given up on listening to 'western' pop and rock and have begun delving into Arabic, Indian, African and Latin percussion-based music. Open up your ears and you'll open up your mind!
