BONITA RIDLEY
When Hossam and Serena announced they intended to take on students for their new advanced dancers course, a buzz of excitement echoed around the hall we were dancing in.
As soon as possible, I approached Serena who chatted happily about the course and who’s infectious enthusiasm sealed the deal for me- I had to know more!
Since then, I can confidently say that through Serena and Hossam’s capable direction and profound knowledge of their art, I have acquired a much deeper understanding of Egyptian dance, music, it’s structure including rhythm, instruments, melody, solo, orchestra, mood and meaning, it’s heritage and the stars who inspired generations, including me!
Most importantly, I learned how to use this knowledge to interpret the music through my dancing faithfully, sound for sound, rhythm for rhythm, and have become far more confident in teaching my own students to truly dance to the music. (Plus I can play the tabla! -regrettably not quite to the same standard as Hossam, but I’m still working on it!)
Without a doubt, I will be forever grateful to all of those that have taught me over the years- I wouldn’t have been in a position to earnestly embark on such a course without them. But the Drumzy course in particular, with Hossam and Serena’s sincere and supportive approach, has enabled me to develop my dancing way beyond my own expectations.
My only regret?- I wish I’d had the opportunity to do the course years ago!

“I have been dancing with Hossam and Serena since May 2007on their Drumzy Course for Advanced Dancers. Since embarking on the course, I have gained an immense amount of experience and skills that I have already begun to utilise in my own dance and classes. As mentors they are inspirational and are keen to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with their students.
You are given so many opportunities to continually develop and Improve, learning styles from the old Stars of Egypt, the history of the dance, how to play essential Arabic Rhythms and interpret music to a number of styles and instruments.
I now feel more confident in my abilities as a dancer, performer and teacher. I would whole heartedly recommend this course to anyone, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!”

HELEN AINSLIE
Studying on the Drumzy Advanced Dancers Course is an extremely challenging and rewarding experience for me. The course has enabled me to develop my own technique, interpretation and choreographic skills in ways that I never before thought possible. It has not been a predictable journey and the depth of knowledge and understanding that I have achieved has exceeded all my (already high!) expectations of the Drumzy course.
As a result, my confidence as a dance teacher has improved considerably due to the knowledge the course has given me. I feel exceptionally well prepared to offer high quality teaching based on a sound knowledge of music, rhythm and interpretation. I also realise that this should be the minimum that anybody wishing to teach this art form should have.
The demands and responsibilities of a dancer – whether teaching, performing or both – are very high and the Drumzy course provides an excellent preparation as well as a solid and thorough foundation for the life of a serious bellydance artist. This course is of a quality that simply did not exist before and is, in my view, a thorough and solid route to becoming a professional or advanced dancer.

I have always listened to music and thanks to my experiences on this course, I don’t just hear it; I understand its structure, layers and complexities, visually representing them in my dancing. I am equally developing my technique as a dancer and gaining a wealth of knowledge about the art of Egyptian dance.
Hossam and Serena Ramzy are teachers who nurture their students, taking a personalised approach which inspires and encourages us. This course is an exciting challenge and through dedication, commitment and application, students will find they achieve well beyond their initial expectations.
By learning to play the duff, I have developed a greater sensitivity to rhythm; the key to music and dance. I have intensely studied the Stars of Egypt and grown my dance vocabulary and repertoire, allowing me to reach exciting new levels of musical interpretation whilst refining my style and technique as a performer.
I further consolidate my learning through teaching my students; I want to share the joy of dance with them and transfer the knowledge I have gained with each Drumzy lesson. This dance course has been an absolute revelation to me. Every stage develops me professionally and artistically; it is the ultimate learning adventure!

CHERIE LEIGH MARSHAL
I heard about the Advanced dancers course through my belly dancing teacher in 2007,
I was intrigued by what I had heard and thought that this could be a once in a life time experience, to be taught by such dedicated & experienced teachers as Hossam and Serena Ramzy.
I needed to know more, so I got into contact with them and they explained ther structure of the course to me, I was very excited and overjoyed at what lay ahead.
There were times when I questioned whether I was at a comfortable
level to join the course, but through hardwork and willingness to learn, I managed to meet the challenges that have come my way so far.
Working with Hossam and Serena has been a natural and fulfilling experience, I have developed amazing dancing
skills and techniques. I can say I have come to understand the music, the rythms and the interpretations of various
solo instruments at a much deeper level, so that when
I dance I
become one with the music.
I have had the priviledge of learning various styles from the "Stars of Egypt", and learning to play rythms on the duff. This has enabled me to better my ability in creating my own choreographies, and experimenting with new steps and moves.
All of this has given me inspiration to keep working and developing myself and has been a great journey for me so far, its been worth every minute.
