Dearest Hossam,
It's nice to see other people interested in understanding the rhythms.
In listening to Lebanese music, I hear a rhythm that sounds like Saaidi to me, it is used quite a lot. I'm thinking of music by Emad Sayyah or Najwa Karam. (dum tek dum dum tek is the basic pattern)
I wonder what it is called? How would you describe the difference in the feel?
Also, I remember you being asked this before, but I forgot your answer: what we call Chiftitelli in the U.S. (8/4 dum tek tek tek dum dum tek tek) - I have heard it in Egyptian music occasionally. What do you call it and do you have any comments on the feel for playing it/dancing to it.
Mucho Love,
Kathryn
